If you miss a connecting flight due to an airline delay, see an airline agent at the airport as soon as you land at your layover airport. They should be able to accommodate you on the next flight.
- If available, download the airline's app and login to your booking there. Sometimes you can get re-booked on the next flight or similar flights right in the app, without having to wait in line to speak to an airline agent.
- If you miss your connecting flight and you have checked luggage, be sure to visit the airline's customer service desk at the airport for more information.
Important
- You should arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before an international flight and at least 2 hours before a domestic flight. Many airlines have strict cut-off times for checking in and will not allow you to board if you arrive at the airport too late.
- If you've missed a flight due to a death in the family or illness, please see Cancelling Due to Death or Illness.
Will my baggage transfer?
If your booking includes layover with a connecting flight, then you might need to claim and recheck your bags. Not all airports and airlines transfer your bags to the next flight, especially if one of your flights is international.
To be certain about baggage transfers on your itinerary, you’re advised to verify this information with an airline agent at the airport check-in counter, and double-check that your baggage tags have the final destination airport printed on them.
Some itineraries include multiple airlines that may not have a baggage partnership and you may need to claim and recheck your bags. While rare, the connecting airline may even require you to pay an additional fee upon re-checking a bag.
Missing or Delayed Baggage
Oh no! If your baggage is missing, delayed, or damaged, visit the airline's baggage claim center at the airport and an agent should provide you with further assistance. You may need to complete a form to help locate your baggage, and in many cases your delayed baggage will be delivered to your hotel or other place of stay once located.
Boarding with Large or Oversized Items
Bicycles, Strollers, Skis, Surfboards, Musical Instruments, etc.
Oversized items such as strollers, sports equipment, musical instruments or bicycles brought on board may require additional fees from the airline. You'll need to contact the airline directly regarding their specific policies for such items.
